Artist's Statement
The work I create moves between the states of dramatic, moving, and quirky, witty. In my work I have addressed the life changes of my Grandmother, the personal stories of immigrants, the taut relationship between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, the victim mentality of youth in love and the necessity or obsession with stress in our everyday lives. My work relies heavily on gesture and "found" pedestrian movement, and is physically challenging. The movement in my work tells all, there is no need to method act, the movement is sufficient for the telling of the story, the moment or the emotion.
