Artist's Statement
I am interested in creating theatre design work that is not dependant upon the vision or words of the director and playwright. I wish to create designs that will form the foundation for the script, and in the second stage of development I wish to create the script. (It is also possible the project could turn into a dance piece.) In 1995 I developed a script in this manner. That play was successfully produced at the University of the Incarnate Word in 1995, 1996 and 1997. I hope the project might liberate me from the often reactionary stances in usual theatre production, and that it will force not only my design skills, but my drawing and painting skills, into a new direction. The images included in this application are selections from my general portfolio. The artistic work of the proposed project has not yet been created.
